This is a new program developed in Multnomah County, with funding from the United Way. The goal of this program is to keep children safely at home through family violence prevention.
Anticipated outcomes:
- Parents create, nurture, implement and continually update a shared vision for their relationship.
- Parents continually update knowledge about each other and offer the nurturing, admiration, safety and support that is consistent with that knowledge.
- Parents engage each other when making decisions, inviting each to influence the other with his/her thoughts, feelings and opinions.
- Parents approach each other with gentleness and respect, and practice de-escalation, compromise, and offering and receiving repair-attempts when engaged in problem solving around difficult issues.
- Parents create opportunities for their children to view developmentally appropriate, healthy interactions, and to engage in family discussions about how they are behaving and why it is important to the family.
- Parents advocate for themselves and their family, accessing community resources to strengthen positive outcomes.
