This parent management skills training program is a shorter, community-specific version of the PIO prison curriculum taught in corrections institutions. It consists of 48 hours of instruction facilitated in 24 sessions over 12 weeks. Participants are primarily parents who have open child-protective cases with the Department of Human Services and have some connection to the criminal justice system.
The curriculum includes: Emotion Regulation; Creating a Collaborative Learning Environment; Communication and Problem Solving; Connecting with Your Child; Child Development; Healthy Families; Nurturing Your Child’s Individuality; Child Guidance; and Your Life in the Community.
